A proud Los Angeles native, Jonah Platt is a multi-platform creator and performer, working across many different aspects of the entertainment industry.
Jonah’s work as an actor spans nearly twenty years of stage, screen, and (web) streaming. Some favorite roles include flower child Woof in HAIR at the Hollywood Bowl, a snarky Frat Boy on the series finale of NBC’s “The Office”, Kentucky caver Homer in the 2014 Ovation-winner FLOYD COLLINS at La Mirada, and a homosexual high school jock in the award-winning Los Angeles revival of BARE.
He is currently starring as the charming prince Fiyero in the smash Broadway hit WICKED, through June 19th.
As a writer, Jonah has made people laugh on Fox’s FAMILY GUY, NBC’s PARKS AND RECREATION, and Cartoon Network’s ANNOYING ORANGE. He most recently wrote for the 2015 NBC sitcom MR. ROBINSON, starring Craig Robinson. Jonah is also the creator, co-director/co-writer/executive producer of CHEAP MOVIES, an original comedy series.
As a lyricist/composer, Jonah is currently writing a musical adaptation of Lois Lowry’s international best-seller THE GIVER with composing partner Andrew Resnick. Their work has been featured on stages around LA, most recently as keynote performances at MUSI-CAL and BROKEN BEAUTY VIGNETTES.
As a singer and guitarist, Jonah has appeared on the stages of New York’s Carnegie Hall; Philadelphia’s Trocadero, Palestra, and Wells Fargo Center; and LA’s Catalina Jazz Club, Roxy, Whisky A-Go-Go, and Troubadour. He has sung with such illustrious performers as Fall Out Boy, Jeff Goldblum and the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, and multi-talented star Megan Mullally.
As a vocal arranger, Jonah has created dozens of lush arrangements in his unique signature vocal style, mostly for nationally acclaimed collegiate a cappella group UPENN OFF THE BEAT, and more recently, for THE ALBUM PROJECT: JAGGED LITTLE PILL, a show he co-conceived and musically directed at the Rockwell Table & Stage in Hollywood. He’s produced several a cappella albums, winning multiple CARA awards for each.
Jonah is the founder/director of ONE NIGHT STAND: AN IMPROVISED MUSICAL, which has performed completely improvised musicals around the world, including sold-out runs at Hollywood’s Hudson Theater, the New York Musical Theater Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival – the largest performing arts festival in the world.
Jonah is also the co-founder and former President of Starlight Studios, where he oversaw the development of many different projects, including the animated short COLD FEET, short films BAT MITZVAH CONFIDENTIAL and STEALING SUBURBIA, a commercial for social media giant Snapchat, and the music video for Sage and the Saints’ TAKE ME TO THE SOUTH directed by Kristen Stewart.
